 6 Days / 5 Nights Program including Nuku Hiva & Hiva Oa :
Day 01: Papeete / Nuku Hiva
Flight Papeete/Nuku Hiva in the morning (flight duration: around 03hr00).
Arrival at Nuku Ataha Airport . Transfer to Hotel Keikahanui Nuku Hiva Pearl Lodge by 4 wheel drive vehicle (transfer duration: around 02hr30). You will then have the chance to enjoy the views on the valley of Tapueahu (the “marquesan Grand Canyon ”) and then on Toovi plateau.
Lunch on your own (not included)
In the afternoon, visit the village of Taiohae with a guide. Your itinerary includes:
- Tohua Temehea: ceremonial site hosting recent stone carvings, inspired by local legends…
- Notre Dame Cathedral, built in 1973, on the site of an ancient “ tohua ” (ceremonial platform). The church shelters numerous religious wooden works by local artists.
Dinner at the hotel.
Day 02: Nuku Hiva
Breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer to the dive center, on the other side of the bay & enjoy a 2 tank dive in the morning.
Transfer back at the hotel & lunch.
In the afternoon, enjoy a nice gentle hike towards and around the archaeological site of Koueva. Restored for the 2000 Marquesan Art Festival, this site is a testimony of the Marquesan Nature & Culture.

Day 03: Nuku Hiva
Breakfast at the hotel.
Full day excursion by 4-wheel drive vehicle to the valley of Hatiheu , on the north coast.
On the way, while the vehicle climbs up the hill, enjoy the magnificent view over the bay of Taiohae . You will then drive through the valley of Taipivai , the largest coconut grove of Polynesia, made famous by the writer Melville in his novel “Typee”.
You will reach Hatiheu after 2 hours drive. Outstanding archeological sites have been restored in the valley (Tohua Hikokua and Kamuihei Ceremonial Center ): while listening to your guide, you will travel back in time; picturing the grand ceremonies taking place in these sacred sites.
Lunch will be served at the unique Restaurant Chez Yvonne: comfortably installed, you will never forget this special moment sampling local delicacies…
Afternoon at leisure for relaxing, and visiting this very tiny village of Hatiheu .
Dinner at the hotel.
Day 04: Nuku Hiva / Hiva Oa
Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning at leisure.
Transfer to the airport by 4-wheel drive vehicle (duration: around 02hr30)
Flight Nuku Hiva/Hiva Oa (duration: around 35 minutes).
Arrival at Hiva Oa , transfer by 4-wheel drive vehicle to Hotel Hanakee Hiva Oa Pearl Lodge (transfer duration: around 20 minutes)
Lunch on your own (not included)
In the afternoon, visit the pleasant village of Atuona , made famous by the artists Paul Gauguin and Jacques Brel , including :
• The “espace culturel”, with painter Paul Gauguin's museum (showing copies of his art), “la maison du jouir” (replicate of his previous house), his well, marquesan handicraft.
• The stele and the “espace Jacques Brel”, the famous belgian singer, presenting his plane & different photographs of his life.
• The cemetery where Gauguin's and Jacques Brel's are buried almost next to each other.
Please note that your guide will not walk you in the museums.

Day 05: Hiva Oa
Breakfast at the hotel.
Full day excursion by 4-wheel drive vehicle to Puamau, on the north-eastern tip of the island.
Breathtaking drive along the winding coastline, through several valleys, until reaching the picturesque village of Puamau .
Visit Te Iipona, an archeological site which became famous thanks to “Takai”, the tallest stone Tiki in Polynesia (2,43 m); and the very exceptional “Makaii Taua Pepe”, unique tiki represented horizontally.
Lunch will be enjoyed at Marie-Antoinette's home: you will have the opportunity to taste real home-made marquesan dishes: marvellous indeed!!
Afternoon at leisure to relax, and return to Atuona.
Dinner at the hotel.
Day 06: Hiva Oa / Papeete
Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning, at leisure.
Transfer by 4-wheel drive vehicle to airport for your return flight to Papeete . (flight duration: around 03hr00).

Remarks:
1) Rates are valid from January 01st until December 31st, 2007. Please note however that they are based on 2006 taxes. Should these be modified for 2007, we do reserve the rights to amend the tariffs accordingly.
Service Tax for an amount of 1% is not included. Service Tax applies to accommodation, meals and beverages. It will be automatically added to your quote.
2) Cancellation Policy :
These packages are not refundable if cancellation is received 7 days or less prior to the international arrival date in Tahiti & her islands.
3) Transfers & Excursions are in “Seat in Car”
4) The hotels have accepted to operate this program based on a MINIMUM of 2 pers travelling together. However, a special rate for single pers when travelling alone is available here above.
The hotels reserve the right to have other clients joining the party on the excursions.
The excursions are not recommended for children under 2.
The excursions & hikes duration may vary depending on external factors & the level of the hikers.
Vehicles used have been built for this type of excursions; however, comfort depends on the roads used.
The excursions require healthy conditions. Follow your guide instructions.
5) Transfers in Nuku Hiva between airport & hotel are organized with 4 wheel drive vehicles. Helicopter transfer remain however available under certain conditions, in connection with Air Tahiti flights :
Supplement to be added to the package for a “one way” transfer airport/Hotel :

Please note that domestic Air Tahiti flight details must be communicated in order to obtain confirmation for Helicopter Transfer.
6) Opening hours of the Gauguin & Brel museums:
- Monday to Thursday : 08h00am - 12h00pm & 02h00pm - 05h00pm
- Friday : 08h00am - 02h00pm
- Saturday : 08h30am - 10h30am
- Sunday : closed
The hotel will do its best to organize the visit of these museums according with the flight schedules of your clients.
Should it not be possible, the hotel will arrange another excursion instead.
7) Please revert to the “Diving in Tahiti & her islands” separated document & pay attention to the all information relative to the provided equipment.
Some recommendations:
a) it is recommended to all divers to bring along their Diving & Medical Certificates.
b) for Confirmed Divers, we shall recommend them to bring their own equipment (except for tanks & weights of course). However, you may trust the quality of the equipment available in the different dive centers ; the equipment being renewed & checked regularly according to international standards.
c) it is not recommended to dive within 24h before any domestic or international flight
8) For your information:
A local 2007 Communal Tax (between 50 & 150cfp per person and per night) is be paid directly by the client on spot at the hotels [Average exchange rate : 1 USD = arround 100 cfp Pacific Franc].
9) Additional nights. If additional nights are requested, rates shown on our website are applicable for those additional nights.
10) During Christmas and New Year Season, Special Conditions and Compulsory Meals may apply. Rates and Conditions tba.
11) This program may be altered without previous notice, depending on airline schedule, weather conditions or ground transportation availabilities. We shall advise of amended quotes accordingly.
