Here we have a polynesian archipelago 1400 km North East of Tahiti, the northern most in all French Polynesia, composed of 14 islands and islets of which only six are inhabited.
Shaped by erosion from the very time they were formed, they offer to visitors a magnificent spectacle of tormented landscapes where steeply-sloping mountains fight for the green space all the way down to the ocean separated by plateaux, valleys and deep bays, ultimately expiring on the powerful Pacific swell with impressive cliffs, a mixture of caves and peaks sculpted in the lava flows-ghostly shapes made all the more striking by the fact that the Marquesas islands do not possess a littoral shelf.
